Hightro Highlights - 14/5/21

Hey everyone! It’s been a moment since I’ve written something up here, but I can assure you it’s been with good reason. Over the past months the team have been hard at work on exciting new project and incredible new features for Hova that we hope to show off soon.

Now, for the news I promised last highlights, I want to speak a bit about what’s coming up from us in the near future!

Care You Can Trust

CF Trusted Care

As many people who know me are aware, I live with a condition called Cystic Fibrosis, which effects my life in many ways. I’m just one of over 1,000 people in Queensland alone who live with CF, and you may have seen the news recently on the decision to delay getting funding for Trikafta, a new drug to help CF patients.

The issues CF patients face and the amazing people who work to help make their lives a bit easier are near and dear topics to myself and by extension the rest of our team. So, it’s with great pride I’d like to share that we are working alongside Cystic Fibrosis Queensland on developing the Trusted Care application which will help them deliver NDIS support people who suffer from CF or other conditions.

Working with the great team at CFQ, we are hoping to have CF Trusted Care and Trusted Care out by the end of Q2 2021. NDIS will soon be available to more people, including many whose lives are drastically affected by CF. Our hopes are that CF Trusted Care will help them get more support and assistance in an easy way.

Harry and I went for a visit to their office in Brisbane this week to talk with Vicki and Petrina, who are doing amazing work for CF patients and their families, helping them make it through tough times and helping new parents understand CF better. We can’t wait to work more closely with CFQ to improve the Trusted Care platform in the future!

This month they are raising awareness for CF and fundraising to support CF patients. With the decision on Trikafta, now is a great time to support their hard work and get involed with the 65 roses challenge! If you are feeling motivated by their incredible work, check them out here and even feel free to donate here to help out!

Lastly, on a personal note, I deeply respect the work they do and thank them for everything they’ve done for CF patients and their families. I’m very excited to be working on CF Trusted Care.

P.S. Thanks Brooke for the connection!

Speech Sounds Pictures

SSP

Another exciting project we’ve been developing is a new version of the Speech Sound Pics Approach spelling piano app. SSP is the amazing idea of Emma Hartnell-Baker, a brilliant teacher who has put many outstanding methods for learning to read into the hands of children across Australia and the UK. This new version developed by Hightro brings a fresh face lift and some improvements to the application.

We love how many videos are out there of kids learning to read on the SSP app and hope the new version can make this even easier, so if you’re a parent of a young one just beginning their reading endeavours, keep an eye on the app store for the new and improved version of SSP in the coming weeks! We will have more to say about other exciting projects in collaboration with Emma in the coming weeks and months too!

Hova

We have heard some great feedback regarding features in the current version of Hova. Now that Hova is up and running we are planning a new update to improve on the existing functionality of the app. Our goals for the update are:

  • Reduce friction between businesses and users
  • Make it easier to find work/workers
  • Improve the experience of new users
  • Introduce more avenues for finding work/workers

We will have full notes on the new release once its ready to hit the app store soon! If you have any feedback on Hova or would like to get involved contact us by email or via the Hova website, we would love to hear from you!

This highlight is fairly brief, but it seemed like the right time to talk about what we have been working on. This is shaping up to be an exciting year so far, and we can’t wait for the next release of one of these exciting projects. Thanks everyone for your continued support!

Cheers, Sam
